Just signed up - been writing haiku for over 25 years, also into tanka and senryu, and various western poetic forms (sonnet, triolet etc). Haiku are a big challenge for me. I tend to avoid trying to be cute or offbeat. My model is Masaoka Shiki. Nice to discover this forum, looking forward to sharing with others here.

Hello and welcome, Rick! It's good to meet you. I'm sure you'll find the forums here useful for delving into the various short forms. I've also written other forms of poetry outside of haiku, haibun, tanka. I look forward to sharing with you about poetry.

    Best,
    Theresa

Thank you, Theresa and Hansha! Do we actually share our work here? Or is it more a discussion forum?

          Rick,

Hansha has given some excellent guidance below. There's a lot to explore and read through, but I'm sure you'll find corners of the board that appeal to you.

          Best,
          Theresa

There are many areas here in which to share your haiku. To begin with, you may like these - https://haikusanctuary.com/forum/haiku-workshop, https://haikusanctuary.com/forum/haiku-gallery or even at https://haikusanctuary.com/forum/riv...s-january-2020. Take some time to explore and find where you are comfortable or challenged.

Thanks all for the nice welcome!
I've been penning haiku for nearly 30 years now. Some years back I self-published a collection of my haiku called "Old Cobwebs", and it is available for free download on Zlibrary here: https://b-ok.cc/s/old%20cobwebs

            Enjoy!

Thank you for sharing your 2008 book of haiku. I see that you also have a Youtube channel featuring a few of your musical compositions. Do you ever combine the two arts?
