Hi, I'm David Oates. I live in Athens, Georgia, USA, where I write and teach haikai forms. I am active in the Haiku Society of America and attend Haiku North America. While I write and publish haiku, my strong suit may be senryu, some of which appear in the online journals "failed haiku" and "Prune Juice." While all my senryu aren't comic, I do have a strong interest in humor. Many moons ago, I wrote for the comic strip "Shoe." I was the host and producer of a local public-radio show "Great Apes," devoted to humor. My current show, "Wordland," is comedy, poetry and stories. I still write satire. I have performed as an amateur sketch and improv. comedian, and, more recently, at standup open mics. My haiku/senryu collections are "Shifting with My Sandwich Hand," "Drunken Robins," and "The Deer's Bandanna."
